Nuclear Waste Burial Media Campaign

• Currently:  EF continues to notify the world of the existence of this nuclear waste dump on a little, relatively unprotected island in the middle of the Pacific. 

• August, 2003: Through EF’s efforts, CBS TV News Honolulu gave an exciting, update news report about Johnston Island Nuclear Waste Burial.

• February 14, 2003: Through EF’s efforts, significant TV News stories about Johnston Island Nuclear Waste Burial were broadcast by FOX TV News Honolulu and CBS TV News Honolulu.

• January 27, 2003: IMPORTANT--NEW YORK TIMES: A substantial Johnston Island Nuke Waste Burial news story was written and published in the NEW YORK TIMES due to EF’s efforts & work for months with a reporter from that newspaper.

• November 2002: Through EF’s efforts, substantial TV News stories about Johnston Island Nuclear Waste Burial were broadcast by FOX TV News Honolulu and CBS TV News Honolulu.

• October 19, 2002: Honolulu Star-Bulletin (#2 newspaper statewide in Hawaii) publishes significant news story about Johnston Island Nuclear Waste Burial, coinciding with our new national & Hawaii education project about “Nuke Waste Burial Underway near HAWAII.” 

• October 18, 2002: Through EF’s efforts, Honolulu Advertiser (#1 Hawaii statewide newspaper) printed a large story about Johnston Island Nuclear Waste Burial.

• October 9, 2002:  Earth Foundation launched its FOURTH eco media campaign in 23 months—a Hawaii, national & international email and print campaign to protect HAWAII, U.S. WEST COAST, & PACIFIC nations from radioactive nuclear waste dumping on Johnston Island (also called “Johnston Atoll”).

• October 9, 2002 and April 16, 2002:  two Johnston Island Nuclear Waste education projects – done in association with Down to Earth organic grocery stores statewide in Hawaii, and with Mana Foods, on Maui, respectively. 

• May 1, 2002: Through EF’s efforts, Honolulu Star-Bulletin published an article about Johnston Island Nuclear Waste Burial.

• April 16, 2002: Earth Foundation launched its THIRD eco media campaign in 18 months—a new, Hawaii, national & international email and print campaign to protect HAWAII, U.S., & PACIFIC nations from radioactive nuclear waste dumping on Johnston Island (also called “Johnston Atoll”).
